Introducing SWAK Box Post Sets!

Monday, January 26th, 2015

When Ingrid came up with the idea of a limited edition Mix-n-Match Caravan Post Set to celebrate our 15th Anniversary last year, we must admit that we were a bit surprised {and humbled!} at just how fast it got the attention of magazine editors, fashion sites and our fans alike!

We’ve said it before and we always will - when you ask, we listen!  You wanted more, so created new Mix-n-Match SWAK Box post sets for Valentine’s Day – as seen in this week’s Style section of the San Francisco Chronicle!

With a nod to our love for the 80′s, we named this collectible collection after our favorite acronym from the era…Sealed With A Kiss.  We love these sets for fun Valentine’s Day gifts for girls that rock an #earparty – available now online and in store!

And don’t forget, our exclusive Valentine’s Day offer runs now through February 3!

how we wear it: memorial day style

Saturday, May 26th, 2012

Personal style is something we get asked a lot about here at Viv&Ingrid. Whether we’re describing the true color of a stone with a customer on the phone or trying on earrings with a guest here in our shop, the question of how a piece of jewelry will work in a customer’s existing wardrobe inevitably comes up. And while we always do our best to guide them in the direction of what we think will suit them best, it is not uncommon for us to be asked what we would pick.

To be honest, there is no short answer. But we thought that here, in the safely contemplative confines of our blog, would be a good place to start chipping away it. And what better place to start than the unofficial beginning of summer – Memorial Day Weekend. As any good three-day weekend should, this holiday promises lots of sunshine and al fresco dining, particularly foods of the grilled variety, and of course, proper picnic-ing and general frolicking attire is required.

In our quest for the perfect Memorial Day ensemble, we started with our Small Gold Teardrop Layered Hoops {1}. They’re a bestseller for us, and we think they’re a great go-to option. Whether you dress them up or down, they catch the light just perfectly and the teardrop shape is universally flattering for any face shape. Then we came upon this navy, cotton maxi dress {2} – a decidedly of-the-moment length that we’re normally a little cautious in approaching. However, the solid color is decidedly non-intimidating and, as a dear family member would say, won’t “make us look like a couch” like say, a print might.

Next, we found a great basic pair of kitten heel sandals {3}. The modest heel elongates the leg {and we think helps the maxi dress from becoming too tent-lie} while the ankle and toe straps make it feel very summery  - we’d wear these clear through to Labor Day, and then some. Then came this jean jacket {4}, which adds great structure to the casual maxi and looks perfectly loved and worn in. Last, forgive us, but we couldn’t help but fall in love with this panama hat {5}. We kind of feel the same way about this head gear as we do about Uggs – like the axe murderer in any good horror flick, they’re the trend that just won’t die. Be that as it might, there is something about a hat that just feels so smart. And while a larger-brimmed straw option would probably wear us, we think this compact, banded version is just right, and would look on point with some sort of done-but-undone braided ‘do.

See, we weren’t lying – not a short answer. But an answer all the same – and now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to the SF Madewell to scoop up these sandals {before all of you do}. Happy Memorial Day weekend all!
