Meet Your Maker

Friday, July 18th, 2014

If you’ve ever shopped with us at Oxford Hall, you may have noticed that our back studio is constantly buzzing – whether we’re making a custom piece for a customer stopping by on their vacation, special sets for a bride and her wedding party, or designing the upcoming collection. Ever since the viv&ingrid jewelry line was born over 15 years ago, it’s been designed and made right here in sunny Berkeley, California.

So it probably goes without saying that we’re big proponents of shopping local, which is why we’re more than excited to be supporting the David Brower Center’s upcoming Meet Your Maker event! This Saturday, July 19 from Noon to 6:00 pm, the event will feature an array of shopping from local businesses, food trucks, musicians and more. You can also attend workshops and presentations all about local love.

You won’t want to miss this event, so be sure to stop by, then take the short walk up to Oxford Street and visit us! We have the Spring/Summer 2014 line out {including some special sale goodies and a teeny sneaky peek at Fall 2014} and as always, our favorite local lines like Maison Bouche chocolates, Twig & Fig cards, Linea Carta baby accessories, Floss Gloss polish, L’Aromatica perfume and much more are in store now.

And as a special offer just for those of you visiting us here on the blog and attending the event, we’re giving you 20% off viv&ingrid jewelry on Saturday only! We hope to see you then!

Celebrate the Bay!

Friday, July 11th, 2014

Located at the heart of busy downtown Berkeley, our little shop of “happy things”, with large windows facing the UC campus and surrounded by celebrity restaurants {GatherAngeline’s and Revival, to name a few}, theaters and historic buildings, we often get the privilege to serve not only Bay Area locals but out of town guests as well. From those hopping off the BART from neighboring cities to the jet-setters picking up locally made gifts before their flight at SFO, we often get the question, “So what else should we see?”

Happily afflicted with the travel bug ourselves, we love sharing the hidden gems and delightful corners that transform a stopover into an affair to remember!  With the gorgeous new book, This Is Oakland: A Guide to the City’s Most Interesting Places, you’ll not only have an inspiring guide on what to add on your fun-filled Northern California itinerary, but you can also leave your camera behind {can anyone take lovelier photos than Kristen Loken?}.

Written by our dear friend and publicist Melissa Davis, This Is Oakland is a guide of all best places to eat, shop and visit in the city.  We’re thrilled to have it in store now, so stop by, pick up a copy and get ready to be inspired by all the awesome local businesses and their owners.

Plaid Friday Logo

Plaid Friday:  noun \ˈplad\ \ˈfrī-(ˌ)dā, -dē\: the day of the week between Thanksgiving and the following Saturday; a local business-friendly alternative to Black Friday; a rad, Oakland-grown event that features festivus fun and great local shops and pop ups with all the goods to get your gift list checked off before December even creeps up on your calendar.

Get it? Got it? Good. Now come visit us {yay!} and a bunch of other great local businesses on November 29th! We’ll be brightening a corner in Uptown with our very own pop up from 5 PM to 10 PM – plenty of time to ride that turkey hangover out {Netflix binge sesh included} and then get yourself together and get downtown!
