Meet Your Maker

Friday, July 18th, 2014

If you’ve ever shopped with us at Oxford Hall, you may have noticed that our back studio is constantly buzzing – whether we’re making a custom piece for a customer stopping by on their vacation, special sets for a bride and her wedding party, or designing the upcoming collection. Ever since the viv&ingrid jewelry line was born over 15 years ago, it’s been designed and made right here in sunny Berkeley, California.

So it probably goes without saying that we’re big proponents of shopping local, which is why we’re more than excited to be supporting the David Brower Center’s upcoming Meet Your Maker event! This Saturday, July 19 from Noon to 6:00 pm, the event will feature an array of shopping from local businesses, food trucks, musicians and more. You can also attend workshops and presentations all about local love.

You won’t want to miss this event, so be sure to stop by, then take the short walk up to Oxford Street and visit us! We have the Spring/Summer 2014 line out {including some special sale goodies and a teeny sneaky peek at Fall 2014} and as always, our favorite local lines like Maison Bouche chocolates, Twig & Fig cards, Linea Carta baby accessories, Floss Gloss polish, L’Aromatica perfume and much more are in store now.

And as a special offer just for those of you visiting us here on the blog and attending the event, we’re giving you 20% off viv&ingrid jewelry on Saturday only! We hope to see you then!

crushing on crimson

We’ll readily admit that we’ve never been huge makeup girls. Granted we’ve always envied those perfectly pouted passerby {not to mention whiled away more hours than we care to count on youtube beauty channels – seriously, don’t start – you’ll never stop}, but we’ve never been exactly gifted when it has come to wielding a mascara wand. That is, until we listened to the siren song of Julie Hewett.

We were suckered in at first by her natural camellia balm – a sheer, multi-use gloss that smells grapefruit-y and has just a bit of sheen. Sure – fancy lip balm in a convenient, purse-friendly pot – why not? Then there was the camellia balm in rose. And then ruby. We delighted in the lightly tinted cousin to the natural balm we’d fallen in love with, and the playfully pink and fuchsia pout we sported when wearing them. And then came the lipsticks. Oh the lipsticks. How a girl goes from being barely a lipgloss wearer to expertly applying a triple pigmented ruby red lip color is beyond us, but ask Julie Hewett. She has the answers, and not to mention every fabulous shade of red lipstick a girl could ever ask for.

Suffice it to say, we’re big fans of Julie around here at Viv&Ingrid at Oxford Hall these days. And with a full stock of her camellia balms, lip lushes and lipsticks, we’re ready to make you one too.

 Some of our favorite red lip inspiration these days – we like to keep it classic and clean. {Picture credits: 1. entresvous.tumblr.com; 2. thesartorialist.com; 3. joannagoddard.blogspot.com and 4. washingtonian.com}
